For Ryann Shannon, real estate success didn’t happen by accident. It came through mentorship, relentless work ethic, and a willingness to fully commit to the process of learning the business from the ground up. Today, as a real estate agent with Whittington Realty, Ryann has built a reputation for professionalism, strong communication, and an unwavering commitment to the clients she represents.
Her journey into real estate began in a way that many agents might find familiar—by stepping into the industry behind the scenes and learning every detail before ever selling a home herself.
Learning the Business from the Inside
Ryann entered the real estate world in 2018, but her introduction to the industry started even earlier. She began working as an assistant, processing files and helping to manage transactions.
At the time, she had little knowledge of the industry. What she did have, however, was a strong desire for a new opportunity and a willingness to learn.
“I really didn’t know anything about real estate at first,” Ryann recalls. “I just knew I wanted to do something different.”
Working closely with Watson for a year and a half gave her a front-row seat to the day-to-day reality of the business. From contract management to client conversations, she observed how deals were negotiated and how relationships were built.
That experience proved invaluable.
Sitting beside a successful broker every day allowed Ryann to absorb the nuances of the profession in a way that few new agents experience.
Eventually, she realized she wanted to take the next step.
“I was processing files and seeing what the agents were doing,” she says. “That’s when I decided I wanted to sell full time.”
Hitting the Ground Running
When Ryann made the transition from assistant to full-time agent, she didn’t ease into the role—she sprinted into it.
Her first year in the business resulted in an extraordinary 82 homes sold, a number that many agents take years to reach. Soon after, she followed that success with another milestone year, selling 96 homes.
The rapid success wasn’t luck. Ryann credits much of her early momentum to the mentorship she received from Watson and the discipline she brought to the business.
“I sat beside him for years and listened to how he talked to people and how he handled situations,” she explains. “I essentially just did everything he told me to do.”
Ryann describes herself as highly coachable during those early years, focusing on implementing the strategies and systems that had already proven successful.
“I was honestly obsessed with learning the business,” she says. “I didn’t have kids at the time, so that’s where all my focus went.”
That combination of mentorship, focus, and dedication helped Ryann become the top-producing agent on the team she worked with for seven consecutive years.
A New Chapter
After building her career within the same brokerage environment for years, Ryann recently made the decision to begin a new chapter with Whittington Realty.
While transitions like that can be significant, Ryann views the move as an opportunity for continued growth while bringing with her the experience and knowledge she developed during her early career.
Through it all, one constant has remained the same: her commitment to serving the people she works with.
The Joy of Helping People
Ask Ryann what she enjoys most about real estate, and her answer comes quickly—people.
“I love meeting new people every day,” she says.
Each client brings a unique story, a different set of needs, and a different way of approaching the process. For Ryann, the challenge of understanding those differences and helping each client navigate them is what keeps the job exciting.
“No two situations are the same,” she explains. “Every person processes information differently and handles stress differently. My job is to figure out how to guide them through the process.”
While real estate transactions may follow similar steps, Ryann believes the human side of the business is what truly defines success.
“It’s really about learning how to communicate and connect with people,” she says.
A Powerful Motivation
In recent years, Ryann’s motivation for working hard has grown even stronger. At the center of that motivation is her three-year-old daughter, Hayden.
Being a mother has added a new perspective to how she approaches her time and her work.
“She’s definitely my biggest motivation,” Ryann says.
Real estate can demand long hours and busy schedules, and Ryann is mindful of balancing those responsibilities with the time she spends with her daughter.
“When I’m working, I want to make sure I’m being productive,” she explains. “Because every moment I’m working is time away from her.”
That mindset helps keep her focused and intentional with how she approaches her business each day.
Discipline Inside and Outside the Office
Outside of real estate, Ryann maintains another passion that requires a similar level of dedication—bodybuilding.
Training for bodybuilding competitions demands discipline, consistency, and focus, qualities that translate naturally into her professional life.
“It takes a lot of time and commitment,” she says of the sport.
Between training sessions and competitions, much of her free time is spent working toward fitness goals. When she isn’t training, she’s spending time with her daughter, making the most of every moment together.
Advice for the Next Generation
Having experienced rapid success early in her career, Ryann often reflects on the advice she would offer to agents just starting out.
For her, the answer is simple: find the right mentor.
“Get with a coach that knows what they’re doing,” she says.
Ryann believes mentorship is a crucial part of long-term success in nearly any profession. Whether it’s athletes, executives, or entrepreneurs, she notes that the most successful individuals almost always rely on coaching and guidance.
Real estate, she says, is no different.
Beyond learning the mechanics of the business, Ryann emphasizes the importance of mindset.
“This business can beat you up pretty quickly,” she says. “Having someone who helps you stay focused mentally is very important.”
Building Relationships that Last
As Ryann continues to grow her career, she hopes the people she works with remember her for more than just successful transactions.
Her goal is to be known for professionalism, clear communication, and a genuine commitment to the clients she represents.
Past clients frequently highlight her responsiveness and ability to guide them confidently through the buying or selling process.
“I’m very professional and very aggressive when it comes to helping my clients achieve their goals,” Ryann says.
At the same time, she works to build lasting relationships rather than simply closing deals.
“Agents sometimes get a bad reputation,” Ryann says. “But I truly care about the people I work with.”
That philosophy—paired with discipline, mentorship, and a passion for helping others—continues to shape Ryann’s growing success in real estate.
